My name is Laila Fletcher, I am a freelance illustrator with a BFA in fine Arts and Illustration from Parsons School of Design. I have 2 years of experience working as an art instructor for afterschool and enrichment programs. Besides Illustration, I specialize in mixed media art such painting, animation, comic creation, experimental craft making, and design. I prioritize creating a space with for children to feel comfortable and seen in a creative environment. I work with every student’s unique approach to art, and aim to nurture their visions to where they can conceptualize and systematize them into finalized work they are passionate about. Students will learn fundamentals of creating visual art, organizational skills, and using their inspirations to create work that speaks to them. I try to assign projects that are engaging and approachable to students with different skill levels and personal interests. I encourage students to experiment with different materials, techniques, and approaches rather than focusing solely on producing a finished product. I am excited to bring my experience as an artist and art instructor to your program, and continue growing alongside the students I work with. I’m always happy to be part of a space where art, curiosity, and creativity are encouraged.
