Class Description

Has your student ever wanted to create their own short cartoon? In this class, students will learn the basics of digital drawing and animation using the same types of programs professional animators use. They’ll design their own characters, build digital “skeletons” to make them move, and bring their creations to life on screen. Students will also be introduced to the techniques that make computer animation efficient- using flowcharts and graphs to automate movement, rather than redrawing every frame. By the end of the course, they’ll have animated characters of their own while gaining a foundation in digital storytelling and design. Please note: Each student will need access to a computer with an operating system (Mac or PC for Flash; Mac, PC, or Linux for Harmony).
