Class Description

Tell your story and share your voice in Zine Creation and Storytelling! This course introduces students to the art of visual storytelling through comics and zines, blending creativity with history and self-expression. Students will explore the steps of making their own comic- from writing and sketching characters to creating thumbnails, inking, and finishing their final artwork. Inspiration will come from reading and analyzing a variety of graphic novels and comics. The course then shifts into zine-making, where students learn about the role zines have played in music, activism, and grassroots communities. Each student will choose a topic that matters to them and design their own zine from start to finish. By the end of the course, students will have created original works that reflect their creativity, perspective, and unique voice. Please note: A materials fee will be included.
