Hi, I’m Lindsay Kovnat, a certified art teacher, artist, animator, and designer with experience teaching children in a variety of classroom, camp, and community settings. I have taught students across different age groups and introduced them to a wide range of art forms, including drawing, painting, comics, animation, stop motion, sculpture, and mixed media. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that art is important for everyone. Art reflects how we see and experience the world, and every child’s perspective and story has value. Making art gives children a powerful tool for sharing their ideas, expressing emotions, developing their imaginations, and discovering their own creative voices. In my classes, I combine learning artistic techniques with experimentation and play. Rather than focusing on making everything look “perfect,” I encourage students to try new things, solve creative problems, take risks, and develop ideas that are uniquely their own. My background in animation, illustration, design, and fine art allows me to bring both traditional and digital approaches into the classroom. As a working artist myself, I know how exciting it can be to turn an idea in your imagination into something you can actually see and share with others. One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing students surprise themselves with what they can create. My goal is for every child to leave class feeling more confident, curious, and excited to keep making art.
