Julia Owen is currently a gallery presenting oil painter, with a BFA in painting from Boston University. She has over 10 years of experience in childcare; she's been an art teacher, nursery school teacher, and nanny. No matter what the role, Julia fosters a caring environment where creativity can thrive. She is comfortable teaching kids of all ages. Paper mache, jewelry making, collage, puppetry, and prink making are just a few examples of crafts that Julia loves to teach. There is a wide variety in the lessons, and the bottom line is getting kids excited to dive into art! Julia’s art and crafting represents one side of her, but she also has had a long relationship with musical theater. She has had the honor of playing Sophie in Mamma Mia, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, and Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the Musical. She has performed for audiences of 1000+ people, and she is comfortable teaching vocal performance, improv, and musical theater. Her art background gives Julia a patient demeanor while her musical theater background gives her the spontaneity and flexibility - both of which are necessary skills when working with kids.
