Class Description

Fashion has always reflected culture, creativity, and change. In this class, students will trace the history of fashion from the 1980s to today, examining how trends emerged from music, film, social movements, and global events. They’ll look at iconic styles and key fashion staples, uncovering how culture shaped design and how clothing continues to make a statement. Alongside research and discussion, students will take part in creative design projects inspired by what they’ve learned. Without sewing, they’ll use sketches, collages, and mood boards to reimagine classic looks and envision future trends. The course culminates in a final project highlighting a fashion staple of their choice, blending historical insight with personal style. Please note: A materials fee will be included.
