Hi, I’m Nicole Celic, a teacher, librarian, and game designer with a Master’s in Game Design from Lindenwood University and a Master’s in Library Science from Clarion University. I currently teach Japanese at Hostos Community College and have also taught Writing for Gamers at Lehman College. My teaching philosophy is that learning should be engaging, approachable, and connected to the things students already enjoy. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying something new. Whether we’re learning Japanese, exploring a story, or creating something of our own, I try to make lessons interactive and give students opportunities to learn by doing. What makes my approach unique is my background in both education and game design. I love using games, storytelling, creativity, and hands-on activities to make learning feel less like a chore and more like an experience. My library background has also taught me how important it is to meet learners where they are and help them discover information independently. At the end of the day, learning should be fun.
