Class Description

In this fun overview of voiceover in gaming, students will get to know the basics and how they apply to many different genres of games. They’ll play and act out different stories and characters while having opportunities to record and analyze their best performances. Communication skills during a recording session are invaluable, so students will learn how to interact with directors and clients, interpret notes, and make accurate adjustments. Along the way, they’ll gain experience using GarageBand, Soundtrap for Education, or other DOE-approved audio production tools to record, review, and refine their work. Class Highlights • Skills voice actors use across a variety of video game genres • Techniques for creating authentic and engaging characters • How to read and interpret gaming scripts • What to expect from client and director interactions during recording sessions • How to analyze audition copy to meet performance goals • Healthy vocal techniques for efforts, emotes, and combat reactions Please note: This class requires access to computers or tablets with DOE-approved audio recording software and basic recording equipment such as headphones and microphones.
