Class Description

Tailored your community’s values, this workshop series bring beloved children’s books to life through taste and craft. Each workshop includes a read-aloud story time accompanied by a tasty treat. Children then engage in a thoughtfully guided conversation based on the book’s central message. Finally, we complete a craft so that everyone takes a piece of the story, and its lesson, home with them. Example of series’ progression: Month 1 Selection: “Corduroy” by Don Freeman - Story time snack: “Lost Button” cookies - Conversation: Friendship and belonging - Craft: Corduroy bear puppet Month 2 Selection: “The Gift of the Sacred Dog” by Paul Goble - Story time snack: Hay Bales (Rice Krispie treats) - Conversation: Resiliency; indigenous wisdom - Craft: Articulated horse puppet Month 3 Selection: “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister - Story time snack: Rainbow goldfish - Conversation/Activity: Sharing (children are encouraged to bring a canned good to donate to a local shelter) - Craft: Ocean mural Bespoke book selection - Does your community have a short book that you’d love to workshop? Liz is happy to create a bespoke workshop for you!
