• I won 1st place in Kata and 3rd place in Point-Based tournament fighting in the Karate New York Cup back in 2009
• I attended Greenwich House Music School on Scholarship for guitar while in High School

Hey there! My name is Rafael. I am a NYC native with a passion for all things tech and music. I love to play guitar and sing. I also love creating my own tech based projects especially if they relate to retro gaming! Above all, I love to share my passions with the youth whenever I can! I am currently pursuing a degree in Information Systems at CUNY School of Professional Studies. Here I am further developing my tech skills in order to provide more dynamic experiences to young learners. I am always looking to find creative approaches to facilitation in order to elevate material in STEM that may come across as a bit obtuse. I do this by taking abstract concepts and applying them to fun hands-on activities that reflect my student's interests. If a student likes Super Mario, how about we create a Super Mario "Platformer" game! I then teach the design elements that make up the inner workings of project all while emphasizing the fun! I love the feeling of seeing a student complete a unique project that they can call their own while they share with their fellow students.
