Class Description

Welcome to the exciting world of coding with Scratch! Designed for elementary students, this beginner-friendly course introduces the fundamentals of computer programming through interactive and engaging projects. Using Scratch, a visual coding language developed by MIT, students will create their own animations, games, and stories while strengthening problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Topics may include sequencing, loops, conditionals, and variables, along with computational thinking strategies such as breaking problems into steps and recognizing patterns. Each session features hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and collaborative projects that encourage creativity and experimentation. By the end of the course, students will have built a foundation in coding and will be able to design and share their own interactive projects. They’ll also gain valuable skills in teamwork, communication, and perseverance that will support them in school and beyond. Please note: Each student will need access to a computer with internet connectivity.
