Hi, I'm Annika Kirkland (Miss K.), a community art educator with over 3 years of experience in the workshop industry. I teach 2D and 3D art basics to ages 5 to 13 in the DMV. As a fine art graduate, I have a diverse skillset consisting of both traditional and digital art. I often use modeling when I teach. Meaning, I demonstrate first, then let the kids work with minimal guidance to create something they'll cherish. I make sure to teach different art techniques and basic principles (perspective, shading, tone, etc.) in each class. My preferred mediums of choice range from more messy tools like oil pastels, glue, glitter, paints, and color pencils, to virtually mess-free tools like digital tablets & pencil. Before teaching, I wrote and illustrated digital comics that I would reference to tutor young ones. They really seemed to love my wacky stories so, I encouraged them to create their own. You can find my digital art at @Anansi_Anni_ on instagram.
