Class Description

Step into the vibrant world of the Harlem Renaissance and explore how art became a powerful voice for culture, community, and change. Students will discover the work of influential artists such as Romare Bearden, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold, and others, learning how they drew inspiration from their surroundings and celebrated the stories of their time. Through hands-on projects in painting, collage, printmaking, and drawing, students will create their own artworks that reflect personal stories and perspectives. Along the way, they will experiment with different materials and techniques, gain confidence in expressing themselves visually, and deepen their understanding of how art connects to history and identity. Please note: A materials fee will be included.
