Hello Beautiful! My name is Marian Martinez. I am an Afro Latina Dominican woman, born and raised in Washington Heights. I am a passionate, multi-faceted teaching artist that is interested in connecting youth to the healing nature of art. I have been an arts educator for twenty years, and have worked with all levels of school-aged children. Fashion, dance, and art have always driven me, and have been my most important outlets. I began dancing at age 3 and continued throughout my life. By age 13, fashion became my truest form of self-expression. And today, I am an artist that fuses different artistic mediums in order to empower people, encourage self love, and promote wellness. I am the founder and creative director of HelloFlirt, a new Black-woman owned brand. The goal of my course is to guide young people through developing their own creative toolkit to help navigate difficult times, feelings, and to achieve self-expression.
