Podcasting, Audio Engineering, and Creative Storytelling
New York City
- I help run live performances of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in New York City.
- I love solving audio mysteries like weird microphone noises or figuring out how movie sound effects are made.
- I’m a big fan of storytelling and true crime podcasts, and I’ve helped produce shows that thousands of people listen to.
Hi! I’m Meg, a podcast producer and audio engineer who loves helping people turn their ideas into stories people love to listen to. For more than ten years, I’ve worked behind the scenes in audio and live entertainment, recording voices, designing sound, and producing podcasts from start to finish. I’ve collaborated with companies like ABC, NBCUniversal, and the Last Podcast Network, and I’ve also spent many years working in live theater and comedy in New York City. Audio production is a fabulous mix of technology and creativity. You can be a storyteller, a sound designer, an interviewer, or an editor. There are so many different ways to bring a story to life! My favorite part of the job is showing people how sound works, both technically and artistically, and how much creativity goes into the things we hear every day. In my classes, students can discover the basics of audio recording, sound editing, and podcast production. Students learn how microphones and equipment work together to capture great audio, and how to shape a story through sound, while also getting to practice interviewing techniques, brainstorming ideas, and creating their own short podcast segments. My goal is to help students feel confident experimenting with sound and to show them that their voices and ideas matter. Whether we’re recording a short interview, creating sound effects, or building a mini podcast episode together, I want students to have fun while learning new skills they can keep using long after class ends.
