Class Description
The world is full of so many different people, ideas, and beliefs! It is important to share how we feel - and learn how others feel - with empathy, respect, and curiosity. In this improv-based workshop, students and parents alike will experience the joy of meaningful conversations and the nuance of empathetic debates. The workshop begins with a collaborative storytelling exercise to build confidence and trust within the group. Students will implement concepts from improvisational theater that encourage skills like empathy, leadership, and teamwork. Next, we will put our new skills to work in a mock debate format. Students will be assigned to argue "for" or "against" the statement, encouraging an open mindset and imagination. The workshop concludes with a "compliment circle," emphasizing unity in the group despite differing values or beliefs.
