Intro to Martial Arts
- I received my first black belt from the World Taekwondo Headquarters in 2017.
- I helped my old Dojang (Taekwondo school) make martial arts videos. The first one was called the "Master and the Mouse" which was just for fun--and later we made educational content to teach people during the COVID-19 shutdown.
- My biggest martial arts pet peeve is when my glasses fly off my face!
Hello! I've been doing martial arts for over a decade and have experienced multiple different styles along the way. My primary martial art is World Taekwondo, which I hold a second degree black belt in, but I also practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts). I love teaching in a way that zooms in on the important details but also zooms out on the bigger picture, so students know why the martial art does it this way. Once students have a handle on the basics, I encourage them to take what they learn and apply it creatively. After learning how to safely kick, punch, step, and do a traditional form--they can invent their own form to perform–or their own martial arts game–or even come up with a concept for their own martial arts movie! The goal is to have fun, get some exercise, and learn something new.
