English as a New Language (ENL)
A supportive after-school program designed for multilingual learners.

Course By
Alexandria T.

Class Description
In English as a New Language, multilingual learners receive targeted support to develop their English language skills in a fun, engaging, and inclusive environment. Taught by a licensed ENL teacher (certified K–12), this course provides small-group instruction focused on building vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, strengthening writing, and developing effective communication skills. Each session is designed to reinforce classroom learning while giving students extra opportunities to practice English through discussions, collaborative projects, and hands-on literacy activities. The program is tailored to meet the needs of newcomers as well as students at intermediate levels, helping them gain confidence, improve academic performance, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

I am a passionate dance instructor, choreographer, and academic educator with experience working with children ages 3 to 16. Growing up, my mom placed me in ballet classes when I was very young (3 or 4 years old). I believe this is where my love for dance ignited! I studied and majored in dance at Hunter College and obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2017. There I learned various styles of dance such as West African, Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary, Folk Dance and Creative Movement. After I graduated, I began to study and focus more on commercial dance styles. I trained mainly at Broadway Dance Center studying Street Jazz, Commercial Jazz, Popping, etc. I went on to create my own dance company in 2020 sharing my love of dance with everyone in my community. I believe that through dance, children are able to express themselves freely and I strive to create a safe and inclusive classroom for all!
