- I have a red-nosed pitbull named Aunt Trudy who you may meet (virtually)
- My daughter, Ripley, born in 2026, was named after the character played by Sigourney Weaver in the "Alien" films
- Like Sigourney Weaver, I also attended Stanford University and Yale School of Drama
Hey, I'm Clark Jackson, a teaching artist with over 30 years of professional experience and a graduate of Stanford University and Yale School of Drama. I've served thousands of New York City public school students as a teaching artist in the areas of theatre, movement, creative writing and improvisation, in classes ranging from advanced students to the severely emotionally disabled. I've also taught adults as faculty at HB Studio, Hunter College, Manhattanville University, St. Francis College and SOMA Adult School (SOMAS), and as a teaching artist for Theatre For All, a Queens Theatre program that offers intensive actor training to disabled adults throughout the country. My teaching philosophy values connecting the artistic process to students’ daily lives through structured play, analysis, choice and reflection. In all my work with students, I've strived to use theatre as a tool for social, intellectual and emotional development. I believe the collaborative nature of theatre is especially suited to achieve this goal through a process of enhancing awareness, leadership, cooperation, expression and communication. As a Black biracial man and a classically trained actor with a broad and deep history working in theatre, TV and film, I balance acting theory and technique with the affirmation, nurturing and enrichment of each individual by taking into account their unique talents, challenges, personal history, and cultural background. In addition to my work in theatre, I'm an avid chess player, ping-pong aficionado, boxing fanatic, advanced yogi, tennis player and downhill skier, all-star baseball player in my youth, and an all-around sports lover who enjoys sharing my knowledge, enthusiasm and skills in various sports. More kiteboarding on the horizon! Please visit www.clarkjacksononline.com to learn more about me and my work as a professional actor and teaching artist.
