With 8 years of Dungeons & Dragons experience, a bachelor's degree in anthropology alongside a minor in creative writing, and a lifetime interest in children's education, I strive to bring out children's interests in writing, culture, and anything else that catches their eye through creativity oriented, interactive play. My teaching philosophy focuses on the personal interests of children, introducing and building understanding for new concepts by relating them to these interests. With my approach, Dungeons & Dragons acts as a tool to draw kids into an engaging world, mirroring the one they live in, where they can find their interests and actively pursue them. Through Dungeons & Dragons, children are able to write their own narratives and introspect on both themselves and the world around them. Dungeons & Dragons is a storytelling medium near and dear to my heart as it fostered in me a deep love for cultural anthropology and creative writing. Through its ability to reflect the real world with choice-driven storytelling, I was able to explore interests that I initially found daunting, such as longform creative writing and cultural ethnography. This playground of academic exploration is what I hope to bring to a new generation of children.
