Sculpture, Mixed media, and Fantasy

  • I took my first ceramics class when I was six
  • My grandparents met at art school
  • I think I have had every hair color

I’m Althea, a ceramicist, sculptor, and mixed media artist based in the NY Hudson Valley. With 24 years of artistic experience, I’ve honed my craft across various mediums, specializing in ceramics and sculpture while also exploring mixed media to create dynamic and immersive installation work. My artistic journey began at birth, and I owe that to my mother, but as I grew older, I learned the majority of my artistic skills from after-school art programs. I studied fine arts at SUNY New Paltz, and after completing my education, I am excited to share my love for art with young minds. I have extensive experience in teaching kids, fostering their creativity, and helping them discover the joy of creating with their hands. Whether in the studio or the classroom, my work as an artist and educator is driven by a commitment to inspire and nurture the next generation of creators. I approach my work with unwavering enthusiasm, as I am deeply committed to the transformative power of art, not just in shaping materials, but in enriching lives.
