Aissatou Odia B.

French Speaking Visual Storyteller and Spoken Word Artist.

  • I have lived in over six different cities in my life.
  • My favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio !
  • I dream of writing a book!

Hello! My full name is Aissatou Odia Barry but feel free to call me Odia ;) I am Guinean writer and journalist and I've enjoyed storytelling ever since I was a little girl. It started with drawing and painting. My mom had bought me a sketchbook in which I started doodling everyday. I'd then replicate my doodles onto a canvas and fill it with watercolor or acrylic paint. Reading at the public library my mother worked at also immersed me into stories that I never forget. My favorite book series as a child were Titeuf!, J'aimeLire, and The Babysitter's Club. In high school, I took theater as well as fine arts classes for two to three years. It made me want to pursue spoken performance and painting as hobbies. Another passion of mine is community work. Since I was nineteen, I have worked with tutoring companies to help children learn French. I have also worked with Montreal community organizations -- one based upon children enrichment as well. In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing at the public libraries, and walking around the city with friends :) My classes include: - Written Storytelling - Spoken word (Both Eng & Fr) - Acrylic Painting - Self-confidence Prompts ......and more !
