I’m Jetaime Ross, a science and math educator with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Biology and 10 years of teaching experience. I’ve worked with students across elementary, middle, and high school, helping them build understanding, confidence, and curiosity. My teaching philosophy starts with a simple belief: children learn deeply when they have opportunities to ask questions, explore ideas, and make discoveries themselves. I combine clear structure with room for student choice, creating a welcoming environment where children can experiment, make mistakes, and grow. Through hands-on investigations, model-building, and creative projects, I help students connect what they learn to the world around them. What makes my approach unique is the way I connect science and mathematics with creativity, strategy, movement, and culture. My interests in chess, capoeira, and House dance influence how I think about learning: there are many ways to solve a problem, express an idea, and develop a skill. I encourage students to explain their thinking, collaborate, and discover strengths they may not yet recognize. Outside the classroom, I enjoy training in capoeira and House dance at Dance Place in DC. Being a learner myself reminds me how much patience, encouragement, and practice matter when trying something new. For parents, my goal is to offer an engaging learning experience where your child feels seen, supported, and challenged. I want students to leave class proud of what they’ve created—and excited about what they might discover next.
