Hello! I'm Isabel, and I'm a music educator based in Philly with 7 years of teaching experience and a Masters from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I sing and play guitar, bass, and piano, and I love making music with young learners and seeing their curiosity and creativity shine through songs. I believe that music-making is natural and inherent, and students only need to be given the tools and space to unlock their inner musician. I am in the process of earning certification in Kodaly methodology, a music education philosophy that builds musicianship skills in young students through singing games and folk music. In my classroom, I pair this approach with my background in Modern Band, using games and familiar songs from both folk and popular stylings to highlight music at work. Some of my favorite classes to teach are guitar, Modern Band ensemble, choir, songwriting, and music production. Outside of the classroom, I perform regularly in bands around Philadelphia, New York, and DC as a guitarist, bassist, and singer. I have released 2 full length albums as a songwriter and have collaborated on projects across multiple genres. I love making music, and I would love to share in your child's musical journey!
