Jennifer A.
Cooking Instructor and Cookbook Writer
New York City
- Before becoming a cooking instructor I was a graphic designer and illustrator.
- I was in the last graduating class of Music & Art High School (majoring in fine art) when it was on 135th Street and Convent (known as the "Castle on the Hill")
- I still have some of my toys and dolls from the 1970s.
I am a native New Yorker and parent of two kids in the New York City public schools on Manhattan's Upper West Side. I have been a cooking instructor for over 15 years with most of my time spent at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and the Jewish Community Center Manhattan (JCC) on the Upper West Side. I created virtual food programs for ContextLearning.com and I continue to teach privately in person and virtually to all age groups throughout the country. While I enjoy many types of cuisines and teach a variety of recipe form all over the world, I have a soft spot for Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food (especially the Syrian food that I grew up with at home!). My hope is to preserve great home recipes by passing them on to future generations through my teaching, food talks, and cookbooks.
