Computer scientist, robotics and coding instructor

New York City

  • I own more than 20 robots.
  • I started coding a play with robots.
  • I planted the seed for a project to teach coding to visually impaired children.

From a young age, I loved all STEM subjects and dreamed of becoming a scientist. While in college, I became fascinated with computer science, especially natural language processing long ago before the hype about Artificial Intelligence. I have been a computer scientist for more than 20 years and, more recently, I have been advising various startups in the areas of media literacy, fabrication and legal tech. About eight years ago a new dream started taking shape to teach coding, the basics of natural language processing and of artificial intelligence (my areas of expertise) to all small children in the greater NYC area and beyond with the help of friendly robots Dash & Dot, Ozobot, and more through engaging activities that foster creativity and critical thinking. I created coding programs for PS 183, the New York Public Library, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House and the House of Bread Ministries. When I'm not playing with one of my many robots, I love to cook for my family and friends, swim, go to the movies with my husband, and play board and card games with my son and friends. I also do extensive volunteering work. I love seafood, ice cream, and going to the beach. My only fancy dream is to own a boat (possibly operated by a friendly robot)!
