Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Megan Barrett. I currently hold an A.S. in Music Education/Performance as well as a B.A. in Global Social Welfare and Music. My Bachelor's is a combination of Music Therapy courses, Social Work, and Global Studies. I have been teaching music lessons in voice, piano and general music for over 2 years, both through lessons studios and my own private lessons business, New Tricks Music Lessons. I teach lessons for students of all abilities, backgrounds, and levels. I believe in meeting students where they are at, and allowing them to learn at their own pace, and in their own unique way. I believe everyone brings unique, but equally important talents and skills to the table - and that my job is to help students shine, grow, and develop their interpersonal, social and emotional intelligence along the way - all while creating meaningful art and experiences. I am very neurodivergent friendly and queer affirming, and have spent time working as a behavior technician in a specialized school for students ages 5-21, and have worked with students of all ages. I often perform my own music in Philadelphia and beyond, and have been writing poems and stories my entire life. I often perform in nursing homes as well, teach somatic classes at local community spaces, and lead meditations and open mics in my community. I hope through my work that I can give back to a community who has given so much to me, and have fun doing it!
