Learn ASL through expression, connection, and Deaf culture.
New York City
- I love birds, but I’m allergic to feathers — which means I’m a bird lover with boundaries.
- I once dreamed of becoming a doctor, an author, and a teacher — and now I use ASL, storytelling, and theatre to help people learn and connect.
- I performed in three different Broadway shows, and it taught me that sometimes the face tells the story before the words do.
Hi, I’m Treshelle Edmond, a Deaf actress, educator, and ASL instructor with experience in theatre, storytelling, and visual language education. I specialize in introducing students to American Sign Language through interactive, expressive, and culturally grounded instruction. My teaching philosophy centers on the belief that every student can learn to communicate with confidence when they are given the right tools, encouragement, and space to express themselves. Whether we are practicing everyday conversations, exploring facial expressions and body language, playing visual learning games, or learning about Deaf culture, I strive to create an inclusive environment where students feel seen, supported, and excited to learn. Before teaching, I performed professionally on Broadway, television, and film, which gives me a unique perspective on connecting language, expression, movement, and storytelling. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me creating community-centered events, mentoring others, or using art and ASL to build connection across communities.
