Alexandros G.
Piano, Music Composition, Music Theory & Electronic Music
Boston
- I love exploring how traditional instruments, like the piano, can interact with computers, synthesizers, and electronic music.
- My music has been performed in the United States, Portugal, and Greece.
- I'm originally from Greece and have taught music in Athens, London, Bristol, and Boston.
I'm Alexandros Gaglias, a pianist, composer, and music educator with over 15 years of experience teaching students of different ages and musical backgrounds. I hold a DMA in Composition (ABD) from Boston University, where I have taught music theory, keyboard harmony, and electronic music. My educational background also includes an MA in Composition for Film and Television from the University of Bristol, a Higher Degree in Counterpoint and Fugue, a Higher Diploma in Piano, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics. I teach piano, music theory, composition, and music technology, adapting my approach to each student's age, abilities, and interests. With younger students, I incorporate musical games, singing, rhythm, improvisation, and creative activities that make learning engaging and intuitive. As students advance, I emphasize technical development, musical interpretation, listening skills, and a deeper understanding of musical structure. My teaching combines traditional musical training with creativity and exploration. I believe that developing a strong technical foundation and encouraging musical imagination should go hand in hand. Whether a student is learning their first notes, exploring composition, or experimenting with electronic sounds, I aim to make lessons both structured and inspiring. Alongside teaching, I work professionally as a composer and pianist. My music has been performed internationally, and my creative work includes concert music, theater, film, animation, and electronic music. I enjoy bringing these experiences into my lessons and helping students discover the many possibilities that music offers.
