Class Description
There are so many messages about what healthy eating looks like, but the truth is that healthy eating looks different for everyone. While each and every one of us has a unique relationship to food, there are a few concepts that certainly contribute to healthful eating. My class will encompass the importance of eating the rainbow, knowing where your food comes from, and cultivating an appreciation of food as art. Each time we cook as a class, we will learn about ingredients and their nutritional benefits, learn about their journey from the farm to our tables, use fun plating techniques, and enjoy our creations using our inner food critics.
As a teacher, my goal is to open my students' worlds up to the wondrous impact of high quality food on our health and wellbeing, give them the tools to succeed in the kitchen, and empower them to create their own meaning around food. Each week we will learn a new savory or sweet recipe drawing inspiration from the world around us, showing the class that they can make anything if they put their mind to it. They’ll be surprised by how easy, fun, and delicious it is to make things like DIY burrito bowls, pizza with cauliflower crust, and chocolate muffins with…*gasp*...zucchini! Students will walk away confident in a repertoire of recipes, packed with superfoods. Parents, get ready to see your children excited about packing their own lunch filled with nutritious ingredients!

My deep appreciation for culinary arts is rooted in the belief that learning to cook is not just a hobby but a powerful way to nurture the body and soul.
