Class Description
In this course, our Magic School Bus will transform into a rocket and blast off into outer space. We will explore our solar system, visiting everything from the Sun to Uranus. Children will gain hands on knowledge of the different planets and how and why they differ, while also learning about concepts such as gravity, atmosphere and the composition of the air around us.
Sample lessons include:
1) Upon orbit with Earth, the class is immediately in their space suits while floating in a sub-zero gravity environment.
2) We will approach to the Sun and land on Mercury, where we will learn is the first planet in the solar system. I will teach the children that due to the proximity between it and the Sun, it lacks an atmosphere. Therefore the overall environment is extremely harsh as the days are sizzling hot and the nights are bitterly cold.
2) Upon arrival on Venus, the class will discover that the force of gravity is relatively similar to Earth, in exception to the sulfuric acid (a deadly poison) within its thick clouds, which permanently keep the surface overheated. As the class explores there, students will busily search for more rock samples to bring back in order to share with their classmates.
3) We will visit Mars and learn that it's nicknamed "The Red Planet" due to the high concentration of iron in its soil, thus giving the surface a rusty-red color.
This is just a small sample of the wonderful, immersive lessons children will participate in. This class is a great way
