My name is Nesdel Meney Fils-Aimé, and I am a STEM educator and tutor with experience teaching students from elementary school through college. My background is in Biological Sciences and Biomedical Engineering, and I especially enjoy teaching chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, and hands-on science. I currently work as a MathSpace Tutor at Bunker Hill Community College, where I help college students strengthen their mathematical understanding and problem-solving skills. I also teach chemistry, physics, and precalculus at Elevation Learning Center. My teaching experience includes working with younger students as well, including children ages 6–13, where I have led engaging chemistry activities and experiments designed to make science exciting and approachable. My experience as an educator began in Haiti, where I served as a Chemistry Coordinator and student instructor and later tutored biophysics for medical students. Working with learners across different ages and academic levels has taught me that there is no single way to teach a great lesson. Some students learn by seeing, others by doing, asking questions, experimenting, or connecting an idea to something they already understand. That is the philosophy I bring to my classes. I want students to be active participants rather than simply listening to information. I enjoy using experiments, demonstrations, challenges, real-world examples, and problem-solving activities to turn difficult concepts into something students can understand and enjoy. I also bring my own curiosity into the classroom. As a student of science and engineering myself, I genuinely enjoy discovering how things work and sharing that excitement with others. Whether we are exploring a chemical reaction, solving a math challenge, learning about the human body, or building something through engineering, my goal is for students to leave class having learned something new and feeling more confident about what they can do .
