Class Description
By the time today's 4th grader graduates, AI will shape every career, every classroom, and every community. Without guidance, they'll grow up as AI consumers, not confident, ethical creators. AI-Ready Futures gives students the tools to lead in an AI-driven world, blending safe, hands-on exploration with future-ready thinking skills they won't get in the regular school day. This 10-week, in-person program is designed for upper elementary and middle school students to explore AI in safe, nonpartisan, and curiosity-driven ways. This immersive experience combines hands-on activities, real-world case studies, and dynamic student-led projects, ensuring that children understand what AI is and learn how to navigate it responsibly. Each activity is tailored for age-appropriate understanding, based on EO 14179 federal safe AI literacy principles, and designed to enhance critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making. Students will learn to: Detect misinformation and bias in AI tools Practice safe prompt writing using a "Red Flag AI" screener Master safe prompt writing with our "Red Flag AI" screener Explore creative applications of AI in music, art, and storytelling Showcase their projects during Demo Day With engaging, DOE-compliant learning experiences free from logins and unsafe platforms, students will complete this program confidently as empowered innovators who can lead in an AI-driven world.
