Sophie Schilling (she/her) is a Massachusetts-based dance artist and educator dedicated to making dance accessible, inclusive, and community-centered. She holds a BFA in Dance and a Minor in Education from UMass Amherst, where she graduated with Highest Distinction following an honors thesis focused on intergenerational community building through dance. She also earned an MA in Dance Leadership and Community Practice from the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where she studied and taught dance in community contexts, including schools, community centers, theatres, and the outdoors. A graduate of the Dance Education Laboratory’s Facilitator program, she has co-led professional development workshops for dance teachers and is committed to deepening cross-curricular and responsive teaching practices. Formerly a Dance Teacher for the Boston Public Schools, she is the inaugural Director of Programming at The Center Dance in Amherst, leading community partnerships, faculty development, and improving inclusivity and accessibility.
