What You'll Do

As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to support after-school classes for K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across Boston. These opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.

As an after school classroom assistant, you'll have the following responsibilities:

  • Support the lead instructor in delivering age-appropriate after-school programming
  • Help set up and break down the classroom before and after each class
  • Help maintain a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels
  • Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment
  • Track attendance and student growth, and offer positive, helpful feedback
  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to assist
  • Create a memorable experience for the children in your class

Who You Are

  • A fun, enthusiastic, adaptable classroom assistant, with experience working with school age children, and who:
  • Has experience supporting instructors in a classroom or after-school setting
  • Has a passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids
  • Has excitement, joy, and passion for both working with kids and personal development/learning
  • Knows how to help create a fun, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you support
  • Is cooperative, supportive, flexible
  • Is dependable, proactive, and thrives when given autonomy … and also appreciates support and clear expectations
