Over twenty years ago I walked into a local pottery studio in New York City and never left. Without realizing it at the time, it was to be more than just the first step in becoming a potter. It introduced me to the joys of teaching children while using clay as part of the process, and thus defined my future. I learned the love of clay, not only for myself but, most importantly, how to share it with others.

Giving students time to make their own connections and discoveries teaches them to be competent and independent artists. I present my students with the opportunity to experience meaningful, interesting exploration that stimulates them giving them the ability to draw their own interpretations.

The colors they choose, the brush strokes they make, the sculptures they so carefully mold between their fingers are their words. Through art children are given the freedom to share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings.

I combine my Fine Arts undergraduate degree with my Early Childhood master’s degree to create the most vibrant, exciting, hands-on curriculum possible. Each and every activity I create is a direct result of my love and respect for the arts, whether it be ceramics, painting, drawing, collage… My love of the arts propels and inspires me as a teacher each and every day. I value art as a language that allows children to express their ideas and emotions.

I am certified by New York State in Visual Arts and Early Childhood Education. I earned my Master’s Degree from Bank Street College.
