Fashion & Sewing Arts
- I am always biking around Brooklyn, and have just started to learn the art of unicycling!
- I love volunteering at the Green-Wood Historic Cemetery in my spare time.
- Since many of my friends are filmmakers, I also sometimes work as a costume designer and prop maker.
My sewing story started when I was a kid with wide eyes in the thrift store. I saw an extraordinary array of items, all deemed useless to someone, somewhere. And in that, I also saw a challenge - how can the 'use' be restored? Since then, I've gone from self-taught hand sewn projects on my parents' living room floor, to discovering I had a much larger interest in the world of fashion.
In 2021, I graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design. Through my formal training, I've learned skills such as pattern making, technical garment construction, fashion illustration, and have studied the cyclical inner workings of the fashion industry. Currently, I work as a fashion freelancer in Brooklyn where I continue to use and develop these skills. I also have found joy in sharing them with a younger generation of creatives, as I work part-time as a sewing teacher for kids K-8. As a teacher, I aspire to deepen my students' knowledge of fashion and sewing-related skills with an emphasis on resourcefulness, and to cultivate a space for their creativity to thrive.
