- I competed and placed in national marital arts tournaments in open forms and weapons.
- I love the outdoors and I am very active. I enjoy skateboarding, biking, hiking, gardening, snowboarding, and more.
- I am researching the importance play for adults.
I am a second-degree black belt with a degree in Art History from Barnard College at Columbia University. My background is wide-ranging from martial arts to arts programming to grant-funded research. I have never limited my curiosity or interests and I teach my students the same. I am preparing the next generation of confident individuals who are thoughtful, creative, and disciplined.
I love martial arts, it is a lifestyle and mindset. Discipline, respect, and fun are central values in my classroom. Martial artists have a saying, “every black belt was a white belt who never gave up.” Students learn that they can do hard things, as long as they stick with it, and failure is often the first step to success.
In all my classes, art or martial arts, I teach and talk about social and emotional skills that are important outside of the classroom. I enjoy working with a wide range of ages (2 to 18) and personalities. I create unique drills and activities for the individuals in my class to develop their physical, social, and critical thinking skills.
