Coding Instructor

Say Hi
  • I received an executive certification in an AI Masterclass at Baruch Zicklin School
  • I enjoy the frustration when debugging code!
  • I have $5 worth of Bitcoin

I'm Alyssa, a freshman at Pace University studying computer science. I teach Python, JavaScript, Scratch, 3D printing, and robotics to middle and high school students. I began coding basic Python scripts when I received my first laptop at age 10. Being self-taught, I mastered the art of teaching myself in a way that made the information stick. For example, when teaching variables in Python, I use a visualization technique where I draw a bucket labeled "X" and fill it with fun items like cats or toys. This helps younger students understand the concept of variables in a relatable and engaging way.

Beyond teaching, I volunteer at various tech events across New York, where I manage registration and have the opportunity to attend talks and panels. These experiences have expanded my social network and increased my exposure to the tech industry. As a member of one of the two all-girls robotics teams in New York City (Mechatronics13368), I've gained hands-on experience in building robots for the First Tech Challenge, managing outreach and engineering for our team. Our team has been invited to events at places like the United Nations, Poker Power, and Salesforce, and we've even been featured in a Forbes article.

I am passionate about sharing my knowledge of coding, and joining Togetherhood would allow me to fulfill that passion while creating a fun and engaging learning experience for kids!
