My name is Christian Mezzo and I am a 28 year old self-taught artist from Brooklyn. I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education at Brooklyn college and I work for the DOE as a per-diem teacher. I have been drawing and painting my whole life, but only began publicly showcasing my work two years ago. Since the inception of Mezo.ny as an art brand, I have received commissioned painting work, designed merchandise for other brands and even created a clothing collection for a runway show in Connecticut this past July.

Most of my visual arts work is observational and figurative. I enjoy drawing compositions up from interesting reference photos, which I see fit to bring back to life. My personal style is reflective of NYC aesthetics past and present with a focus on subjects from pop-culture to fringe. Some of my favorite compositions are nonclassical in a sense that you wouldn't typically see them as a painting on a canvas. My BB Simon pink belt painting, for example, is not something you would expect to see in a museum, but holds a grave amount of social significance amongst younger generations.

I love teaching and plan to work for the DOE upon completion of my degree. I have been teaching since 2017 and enjoy working with kids. I live an active lifestyle that includes skating, surfing and traveling. I am always in search of new inspiration for my art and find that creative process both challenging and liberating. Working with your hands is empowering and I would love to help your child achieve their creative endeavors.
