Hi, my name is Shawnette George and I’m a self-taught artist from Brooklyn NY. I’ve been painting and creating for as long as I can remember. I love art and spent most of my childhood painting and creating in my grandparents' sneaker store where my love of sneakers also grew.

While studying Black Studies with a concentration in sociology at Brooklyn College I started my business ShawnG Originals doing costume sneaker design. At 22 I got my first sneaker deal since then, ShawnG Originals has become the concept shop for my original canvas art. My art has been featured in Nylon, Afropunk, Marie Claire, and Art Basel.

I've been a teaching artist for over 12 years working with children of all demographics, and ages from PreK to 12th grade. I've taught in NYC schools, after-school programs, and community centers. I also have experience in art therapy with autistic children through art and sensory.
