- Some of Calyn's childhood pets include an African millipede, two geochelone sulcata Subsaharan tortoises, an English Bulldog and other fun animals which each had their own cartoon!
- Calyn has two younger brothers: one is an animator and Calarts alum. The other currently attends RHISD where he builds and plays his own instruments.
- Dill, the main character in Dill Comics, is the proud owner of a lemon stand.
Calyn Pickens Rich (aka ‘Dr. Calyn’) is the creator and ‘mad doctor’ behind Dill Comics, a comic about a kid with existential issues and a lemon stand, as well as Dining with Dana, a blog that represents the underrepresented in alternative subculture and Pwatt Institute, which chronicles life at Pratt.
Black American and born and raised in Paris, France, they hold a degree in Critical and Visual Studies from Pratt Institute. They previously attended the founding class of École 42 for computer programming where they created the parody series Born 2 Crash.
About Dill Comics:
Dill is a kid with a lemon stand and existential issues. Dr. Calyn introduced him to the world at the age of six, in 1998. He is the only character the doctor would ever draw, eventually forming a world of his own. Dill Comics are an open panel into the mind of a 2D kid who doesn’t feel like he fits in school, his paper World or anywhere for that matter. Despite spilt lemonade after spilt lemonade, his zest for life maintains his fervor to go from bitter to better. No roadblock along the way is too intimidating to stop Dill from his imminent revolution and evolution, with the goal of bringing out the kid in every adult.
