I have taught woodworking to everyone from children to adults- in homes, schools, and even on vacation! I have managed and owned several full machine shops, but have always believed in the importance of hand tools and patience. I've worked in elementary schools, and with Cub Scout troops. I am very patient and safety minded. For ten years, I had my own company and our work was purchased and sold worldwide. I grew up on the windy northern coast of Massachusetts repairing old houses with my father. By doing that, I learned that anything can be repaired, and if you build a wooden object with respect for its user, and its intended home, then you can build something that will last for generations.
I received my BA in Sculpture and Drawing from Hampshire College. After that, I managed their woodshop and helped students build things. Later I attended the Rhode Island School of Design where I also managed the sculptor's woodshop and was a teaching assistant. I graduated with an "MFA with honors". Wood, hand tools and power tools have been an integral part of my life since I was a child.
