Hi families, my name is Nick Farha and i have a very broad range of age groups I’ve worked with in my life in after school programs. I’ve worked at the YMCA as a after school counselor, a youth basketball coach , I’ve worked as a personal trainer for kids between 12-18 and I have lots of experience working with kids with autism and other kids with special needs. My teaching philosophy is “have fun but never force it” which means I want the kids I work with to enjoy the planned activities but I don’t ever want them to feel like they have to participate. Everyone has moments in life where they just aren’t ready to be involved and that’s okay. I am very passionate about the early lives of kids which is why I would want them to feel comfortable and in a safe space when they’re at my class, regardless of if they participate or not. My approach is unique because I’m making my entire class about the kids I work with rather than anything to do with myself or what I could take away from the class, everything is designed in a way to be serving and educational for these kids which is my top priority. As someone who’s spent a lot of time at after school programs, summer camps and group activities, I can tell you how big of an impact one good teacher can be and that’s what I strive to be for these kids.
