Hi! I’m Dr. Ashley Gibson, though my students know me as Dr. G. I’m an educator with nearly 20 years of teaching experience and an Assistant Professor of Social-Emotional Learning and Special Education. Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about creating joyful, inclusive spaces where young people feel confident, connected, and excited to learn. My philosophy is simple: children learn best when they feel safe, seen, and free to move. Through Zumba and More with Dr. G., I combine music, movement, creativity, and social-emotional learning to help students build confidence, coordination, teamwork, and self-expression while having fun. Every class is designed to be energetic, welcoming, and engaging for children of all experience levels. In addition to teaching in K–12 schools and higher education, I’m a licensed Zumba instructor who believes movement is a powerful way to develop healthy habits, celebrate different cultures, and build community. Whether we’re dancing to global rhythms, playing movement-based games, or learning new skills together, my goal is for every child to leave class smiling and feeling proud of themselves. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy designing educational programs, mentoring educators, spending time with my two cats, and, of course, finding new music and choreography to bring into class.
