Hello! My name is Angelique Melendez and I am a performer, choreographer, and dedicated dance instructor for artists of all ages and skill levels. I discovered my passion for teaching at a small studio just south of DC. As a tween student looking for new avenues to explore within the art form, I joined my studio's teaching assistant program and have since built a career teaching multiple genres across the DC metro area. I received college-level training in pedagogy and choreography at Shenandoah University, collaborating with a diverse group of dancers in solo and group works under the tutelage of Ting-Yu Chen and Maurice Fraga. I have also worked with DHH Dance Collaborative to choreograph and produce projects featuring dancers of diverse talents and skill levels including up-and-coming artists as well as adults returning to former passions. As an instructor, I have traveled to studios and schools around DC and Virginia, cultivating an appreciation for the arts in classrooms of dancers young as 3. Students develop a strong technical and artistic understanding of each genre and are given an avenue to empower themselves with life-long skills including teamwork, adaptability, and self-discipline. Each class taught is a pathway for students to build community and a stepping stone to success in any career of their choosing!
