- My classes sometimes are taught in Spanglish.
- I do a lot of warmup exercises where we imitate animals.
- I share a lot of fun facts about the topics I teach in my classes and then give little pop quizzes at the end of the class to make sure they remember what I shared with them.
I've been dancing since I was four years old and started in ballet folklórico, jazz, tap, and ballet. I received my BFA/MFA in Dance and an MA in Arts Politics. I choreograph on political and social topics and have presented my works nationally & internationally. I have been teaching since 2005 and my teaching in New York schools started in 2018. I've enjoyed teaching ballet folklórico very much, especially sharing which dances come from which states/regions in Mexico.
