Dedrick “D.Banks” Gray, is a dance artist, educator, and producer. As an embodied storyteller who is inspired by the African Diaspora, he creates work founded in identity, liberation, joy, and unity for social change. He received his MFA at Florida State University for Choreography and Performance in Spring 2022.His teaching and guest artist experiences include adjunct and faculty positions at Florida State University, Florida A&M University, University of Wyoming, and alma-mater, Columbia College Chicago. He recently served as the production assistant for Jawole Zollar and Urban Bush Women for special projects, and an apprentice with Camille A. Brown & Dancers. Dedrick is also member of Embodied Scholars, an exclusive group created for Black hip-hop artists and scholars in academia. He also was casted in the Lyric Opera of Chicago production, Champion. Performance credits include Gwen Welliver, Ron K. Brown, Allison Janae Hamilton, Onye Ozuzu, Darrell Jones, Diane McIntyre, J’Sun Howard, Nick Cave, BET, BraveSoul Movement, Muntu Dance Theater of Chicago, and Red Clay Dance Company.
