Dee K.
Dee Quinones-Kanevsky, wears many creative hats (Broadway Junior Mentor, Artistic Director and Choreographer of Triple Threat Theatre, Ballroom/Latin dancer, Teacher, Choreographer, Organizer). Dee’s background also includes teaching Ballroom, Latin, Zumba Gold/Zumba Kids and Musical Theatre Choreography in the public school system, independently as a vendor and for the past 9 years as a Teaching Artist, and holds a degree in Costume Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Upon graduation she fell in love with Ballroom and Latin dancing, turned professional, then competed and won titles worldwide. In 1987 Dee opened The Dance Corner studio in West Hempstead, LI, was invited to represent the United States at Britain’s Blackpool Dance Festival in Exhibition (placing 3rd in the world) and joined The American Ballroom Theater Company. During her 9 years as a principal dancer with the ABrT, directed by Dulaine & Marceau, Dee performed in shows ranging from the Hong Kong Arts Festival to the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, DC (CBS) and at Ann Reinking’s Gala. She had the honor of working with Broadway choreographers (Patricia Birch, Graciela Daniele, Geoffrey Richard Holder, Joey McKneely), and the privilege of instructing celebrities (Richard Gere, John Edwards from "Crossing Over”, several DWTS professionals). Dee also organized The Kings Ball Championship and created Peanut Partner Dancing for toddlers. Transitioning into choreography for children’s musical theatre twenty years ago, she met Director Christine Nardone-Storch and five years later they started The Jr. Talisman Players. Since her students work on acting, singing and dancing, they are, what is known in the business as, a "Triple Threat!”; hence, the name change, Triple Threat Theatre. Recently Dee produced Triple Theatre Theatre's "Then and Now", an Alumni Cabaret.
