Class Description

Mondays | 1:15 - 3:15 PM | September 13 - December 20 | No course on October 11th Engage your kids with masterworks from art history to inspire them in the creation of their own studio art projects. Children will learn about art from various periods of time (the Renaissance, Baroque, Romantic, Impressionist, Cubist periods, and more). They will also learn about the artists' lives and historical periods. A theme or technique from the art history lesson will inspire our studio project. Materials will be varied and may include: drawing, watercolor painting, tempera painting, collage, pastel, mixed media, clay, and paper mâché. In a small class setting we will be able to accommodate suggestions, requests, and/or special needs. Materials will be included. About the teacher: Eve Pomerantz taught art at Hunter College High School for 8 years. Eve has also taught for several years in the after school and summer programs for The Dalton School (elementary). She was the director of the Hunter Elementary Summer Enrichment Program for the Gifted in 2019-2020. Eve earned an MA in Art and Art Education from Columbia Teachers College in 2009 while she also worked as an intern, docent, and school tour guide at The Frick Collection. This course is $50 per class and 14 sessions long (No courses on Monday, October 11). 6 Students maximum (first come first serve)
